Why am I working myself up again? 😭 Thinking about what could have been for MHA Final War arc and the aftermath?
They had Eri. They had Overhaul. Two people with healing quirks.
They just let poor Touya bound and in pain, no doubt drugged out of his mind and unable to talk for more than a few short sentences... Left there, slowly dying... Losing the will to live.
I get it, both Overhaul and Dabi are Villains.
Villains don't deserve happy endings and need to pay for their crimes. Murderers. A child abuser. An arsonist.
Two men fallen into the cracks of the forgotten and lost, forcing themselves to pick themselves back up by themselves. Fixing the pieces themselves, shoving the chipped, broken and fragile jumbled remains back and kept moving forward.
That's it. Heroes win, bad guys thrown in jail, here a cameo, bye. -_-
They could have worked something out with Pops and Aizawa to save Touya, but no...
Could have shoved a quirk restraining collar on Kai or blind folded him, handcuffs him and surrounding by armed guards. Both Pops and Aizawa present as Eri have Kai back his arms and retreated.
If Kai agreeded to slowly helped to rebuild buildings, saved lives to help Recovery Girl under her apprentice ship, and healed Touya at Endeavors request.. Touya could have lived.
Kai would be forced to do community service with the rest of the eight bullets.
Yes, it's hella crazy and unrealistic, wishful thinking on my part...
Yes, Kai got what he deserved. (Okay, I lied, he doesn't deserve it, dammit! I'll die on that hill that Kai deserves a redemption arc just as bad as Shiggy and Touya! Fuck, Karma! I wanna see my birdman happy!)
Yes, Touya isn't in pain anymore. He's free. (The thought of him suffering and dying alone is killing me)
😭 Doesn't make it hurt any less.

Isabeau ISAT having the “don’t worry about me, I’m always fine!!” vibes is very interesting to me but I don’t have enough in me to actually write this all out so this will be explained further momentarily
Okay I’m back but I’m leaving the top part
Isa is actually so real for this but it also devastates me and makes me very emotional over the squishy little guy the way he always puts his feelings and needs below the others, especially in the friendquests where he refuses to let sif even talk to him until they’ve helped everyone else out because it’s “just a hangout” and “other people need them more” and this is so alrhskdjajdjqjdw
And when Isa keeps trying to talk to you but let’s himself get interrupted over and over again by the others, yes it’s partially him being anxious about saying The Big Thing he needs to tell Sif, but he also feels that the interjections of the others are more important than what are “just his feelings”
And in the friend quest he says he doesn’t want to be someone Sif is “embarrassed to know” and that makes me want to explode with emotion because the way he downplays himself, his needs, his emotions, and his positive effect on everybody around him is absolutely devastating and oh so REAL and GENUINE and it MAKES SENSE and he’s WRITTEN SO WELL and just makes me feel Many Big Emotions :3

ISAT RANT!! SPOILERS CAUSE IM FEELING SAD.
There is something so dreadfully painful about Siffrin never being able to get the crew to remember what happened in the loops. The only solace to anyone knowing his pain was a literal physical thing was Loop and Loop isn’t around for the afterwards and we know damn well how well Loop understood. So having to walk the rest of his life without someone to just *know* about what has happened to Siffrin must be soul crushing. Being able to talk to his friends and sometimes go “they don’t remember me as family.” Must STING. It must gut him and do it again. To lay next to his partner and watch the rising and fall of Isabeau’s chest and go “he… isn’t all mine. Is he.” It has GOT to hurt.

Sleep cancelled, I used theory craft. This time, I'm thinking about Body Craft and its possible "restrictions." During the game, we get to know about Body Craft and how Ka Bue questions its "limitations" so it's considered illegal to use in that country. Body Craft is used to modify your own body and Change parts of yourself to whatever you like, Isabeau used it, Odile is implied to have used it, but then at the same time, in Dormont, there's an NPC with a missing leg. In a country that can use Body Craft to modify one's own body, why didn't that NPC used it to replace the missing leg?
Either he didn't want to as a reminder of whatever incident inflicted that injury or Body Craft can't replace missing body parts. It can even be both in that the NPC didn't want to and that Body Craft can't do that anyway. In the isat universe, Craft is a power of creation, the basis of it. Craft is used to Create things, a powerup, a shield, an attack, a new look. But at the same time, it also needs a "formula," just like with Mira's shield capable of withstanding the King's powerful attack, there was a formula needed to understand how to create it, a CARROT method. In the same room we learn about the existence of Body Craft, there's a book on the table that has the formula to use it with Isabeau commenting that it's easier to understand than the one he used.
So in a way, Body Craft is akin to science, specifically biology. There's a formula and method to do things properly in regards to its usage and in order to be able to create that formula to begin with, there has to be an understanding of How the human body works. The way the muscles move, bone structure, cell growth. So then, what Is the restriction of Body Craft? Is it the same way biology becomes restricted with the varying structures of each person's body? Is it easy to regrow a limb by using the other still attached limb as the blueprint of which it can be recreated again? Or is Body Craft incapable of creating a body part due to the complexities of the human body itself? Is replacing a missing body part or creating an entirely new one not from a Human body something that Body Craft can't fulfill cuz of possible conflicting values in the way the new body part functions in regards to the whole body itself, like a liver that's being rejected after a transplant?
Have you ever wondered that Body Craft, in a way, is a modified version of Wish Craft? Ever thought about the fact that the King didn't actually used Body Craft to be as gigantic as he was in game but it was a result of Wish Craft itself? That the King, for all that he loved Vaugarde, couldn't bring himself to Change, as he thinks he's the Only One Left. The one and only reminder that the Country exists and how he wouldn't want to Change. Wish Craft gave the King the means to use Time Craft while also giving him a body that can withstand it. So if what turned him into a giant isn't Body Craft, what's the restrictions of it then? One may Change but only to a certain threshold as written in the books serving as the guide to using it.
#aria rants#isat spoilers#also ever wondered why isabeau had to physically work for his body to be as buff as he is rn?#he used body craft to Change and add on his height but at the same time. he also had to do workouts to gain the figure he has rn#so to what extent can body craft actually Change? theres also the blind npc in dormont too#instead of the limitations of body craft. theres a lot more to consider in its restrictions#what does it allow to Change and what does it not allow to Change? much to think about...

Holy SHIT yes hang on-
Siffrin is all blue tones. White hair, white passing skin, white cloak and hat. Shadows have blue tones to them. Their eyes are probably brown or a very deep blue. Clothes under the cloak are all black with silver embellishments. Underside of cloak looks like the night sky in a swirl of blues and purples.
Isabeau is very orange toned to me. Ginger brown hair and matching freckles. Brown eyes. Cream tones in his blouse with brown stripes. Black turtleneck. Brown leather belt and boots. Black brass knuckles and earrings. Gold embellishments. Face lights up a bright red when he blushes.
Mirabelle is a bit more complicated. Pink bow, rosy/dusty pink dress. Black hair, brown eyes and skin. Blue gray shoulder shawl with silver ding-dings and Change embellishments. Brown leather boots. I personally headcanon all the Change fabrics in the house being that dusty blue grey to clash with Mira's pink colors.
Odile is purple toned. Lavender cardigan, dark purple shirt, black pants and loafers. Gems on her glasses are clear, maybe diamonds for durability. I imagine her eyes aren't actually very dark. Maybe a light brown with amber colorings or green eyes with a brown encircling the pupils (centralized heterochromia maybe? Twinsies!) Silver embellishments.
Bonnie is the only one I'm not sure of. Maybe they've got all the colors since they aren't grown up enough to know what they want to be. White hat and shirt that's now beige due to many washes, blue jean shorts, maybe some comically yellow boots. Bonnie's a wildcard.
Let me know if you want the others?
Just curious, are there any ISAT fans out there who have headcanons for what the characters would look like if they had colors?

ALRIGHT IN STARS AND TIME FANDOM, I'M BOUT TO HIT YOU WITH MY TAKE ON THE BELOVED SISTER!!
Those who don't want to get spoiled about little details about Bonnie's sister (or the game at all for that matter- There's spoilers for Act 3 and 4 in here so YOU'VE BEEN WARNED)
SAY HELLO TO PETRONILLE!! Or how I am going to call her, Nil. I've seen a few people do their take on her, and I wanted to join in!
@insertdisc5 I am sorry in advance if you have a vision for her, especially if it is WILDLY different to mine-
KEEP IN MIND, I AM GOING TO BE RANTING A LOT, IVE HAD THIS IN THE MAKING FOR A WHILE, THERE'S MORE ART, SO SKIP AHEAD IF YOU'D LIKE
First thing's first! I tried to figure out what she would look like in the original style. I didn't want to overly detail her with my normal style, and I wanted her to somewhat fit in with the rest. Bonnie was clearly the strongest inspiration , she has their eyes, the black hair, white thing around their head to bring attention to her face- That's also why she has lip piercings! To bring more attention to her face (and due to Bonnie's earring type, I assumed piercings can exist in the world)
Her ear has 3 earrings, that was not intentional, I just thought it was cool. I like to think they perceive those as "regular" earrings, and even if a person wears bonding earrings, they can also wear more normal earrings.
I just had the image of her not really having a short range weapon, so maybe it's time for someone with a semi-long range weapon to join the team! In my head Nil seemed to be the type to like getting dirty with her hands, so a rope seemed fitting somehow.
Also- She is paper type! I liked the idea of her looking like such a rock type, but being paper. I considered making her dual type, but since those are rare, I didn't want to get ahead of myself. Admittedly, that does make the party a little overloaded with paper types, so if she was to be in a game with balancing, I'd probably change her to rock or something. BUT AS A CHARACTER THING- she remains paper.
(EDIT: I was just reminded of the huge hammer she broke a wall with, so that is ABSOLUTELY a valid replacement weapon for her. If she was rock type that would be her weapon for sure. Altho it IS funny to imagine she broke the wall and swore off heavy weapons for life. I like to think thats what happened with my take on Nil)
Mechanically I think she wouldn't be too dissimular to Isabeau, but instead of boosting the party, she debuffs the enemy. Particularly slowing them down, and lowing defense. Alternatively, I can see her being a second healer of sorts, but while Mira is good at healing everyone, Nil is good at healing a single person and giving them a boost (just things she learned to take care of Bon). I do see her attack not being that high tho, probably lower then Mira.
ALRIGHT, TIME FOR MORE ART
Her dynamics with everyone:
Bonnie:
I like to think Bonnie got their spunky attitude from somewhere. So I like to think Nil is very playful with them, even if she is looking out for them. Bonnie clearly knows the difference between lighthearted serious, and SERIOUS serious. They also seem to revel in compliments, so I like to imagine they are used to receiving them from their sister!
Nil is the most serious around Bonnie tho. As their sole caretaker, she's trying her best to keep them out of trouble while teaching them and letting them grow at a normal pace.
However, when she's with the adults- I described it like- Around Bonnie she can be serious and a voice of reason. When she's with adults tho she herself becomes the Bonnie, so to speak. She's loud and a bit hot-headed.
Mirabelle:
I swear I saw Insertdisc mention that Mira and Nil would have a bit of a rivalry going on AND I'M SO HERE FOR IT-
The two of them are those siblings that fight constantly, but the moment someone else gives either of them shit, the other will go for the jugular. They mainly try to compete for Bon's affection and who's the better sister, and they get a bit... blindsighted. Nil usually doesn't go out of her way to spoil Bonnie I don't think, I think she tries to be reasonable with them where she can. However with Mira in the picture it becomes- a little hard... Nil doesn't like the thought that she's being replaced
However, if either of them needs it, the other will be there. Nil provides Mira with a strong shoulder to lean on, and Mira provides an emotional yet reasonable approach to the situation bothering Nil.
Odile:
I like to think at first Nil didn't really get along with Odile. Supposedly Nil has a bad relationship with her parents, so I imagine her seeing someone who's a parent aged adult who holds seemingly more authority- It would... Unnerve her for a little while.
Odile will probably give her something to do, and Nil would refuse, because who is Odile to be ordering her around?? You know. Like a child. But with time they get used to the dynamic, Nil grows to respect Odile at the very least, and Odile picks up on the fact Nil seems to respond positively to positive reinforcement from her.
Having someone close, to break that pre build idea in Nil's head with positivity, despite Odile being strict and struggling to show affection- It would do her a lot of good, and Nil will eventually thank her, and apologize for being so rough to her in the beginning.
Isabeau:
Isa and Nil are actually very similar- I did not mean for it, but I hope they don't end up being TOO similar.
They are both loud, love to laugh and take care of those they love. Even their hobbies are a bit more similar then everyone else. Nil likes gardening, and taking care of things, and Isa likes to create clothes. Both of them are in a way creating something. Nil making sure what she's taking care of grows to be big and strong, and Isa is more literal-
Where they differ is in smarts partly. Isa is clearly very book smart. I think Nil would turn to him if she had a general question about something (and later on Odile once she gets used to her). She completely encourages him to show more of what he knows.
They also differ in their buffness slightly. While Isa is still the beefiest on the team, he did it with the intention, he trained. Meanwhile I think Nil just likes the field work so she's constantly outside doing heavy dirty work.
I like to think that after being unfrozen, Nil's clothes were roughed up and she didn't really think to or have the time to fix it. So I imagine Isa saw the roughed up state of her pants and gloves, and made her some himself, Which she treasures but GOD she is not used to receiving anything from anyone, LET ALONE gifts.
They also similarly hide their insecurities under bavado. Isa hides his smarts to be liked, and Nil hides her fears so she can be brave. I'll go more into detail when I get to Nil's own section. (I SWEAR I didn't mean for Isa's section to be so long I PROMISE-)
Siffrin:
These two don't do a lot of talking I'd imagine. While Nil is used to being loud, I think she'd get used to the silence around Sif and simply enjoy the quiet.
A lot of the ideas I had with those two were very touch focused. I assume Nil struggles with touch because of potential childhood related traumas, and not being warned sends her into a fight or flight. While Sif is deeply unused to it but craves it.
I still imagine Nil isn't an inherently NOT touchy person- I mean. Bon's the touchiest little guy out there. So maybe she knows how to warn people of when she's about to touch them, AND she is more used to asking for hugs and affection. So after she learns that Sif struggles asking and being startled, she became the person that would encourage them and tell them how to do it. In every single drawing where they're touching just know that either she warned them or they asked for that touch.
Also Nil is a very grounding reminder for Sif that he's not in the loops anymore. So if they get a particular scare, like they were woken up wrong, they had a rough sleep, smelled a banana, remembered the king- anything involving going back- Nil serves as a reminder that they're here, with everyone, in the present. No going back. So that, combined with their touch therapy, it results in him being particularly physically clingy with her. She squeezes their hand ocassionally. It's a grounding reminder.
Nil is also UNBELIEVABLY THANKFUL for Sif, once she learns about how they lost their eye. The fact Sif went out of their way to protect HER little sibling- It means the world to her, and she wouldn't wish it on Sif one bit. She probably holds guilt that she couldn't take the hit for both of them, Bonnie is her responsibility! They probably end up having a conversation similar to Sif telling Mira "Do you think she was wrong? To save you?" She doesn't know about the end of act 3
AAAAAND NIL HERSELF!
A lot of this is already information I mentioned. Her being a paper type, her liking bugs, being traumatized, startled by touch- But I drew these beforehand, so!
I imagine Nil ran away young, cause Bonnie doesn't remember her running from their parents. What happened in there, I do not know and I don't think I'm capable of imagining. It might not even be as dramatic as I illustrated it. But either way, she grew up being the sole caretaker of Bonnie. I'm sure Vaugardians were kind and that they didn't have to struggle too hard for food or a place, or to get Bonnie into a school- But Nil still wanted to learn how to be self sufficient, how to provide in case something happens. It might be why they live in Bambouche honestly, Nil learned how to grow plants and being close to the sea is good for catching a lot of fish! ...It was also at the edge of Vaugarde. Probably the edges where the King's curse reached slower.
She likes getting her hands dirty and working outside, so I imagine she's a bit sunburnt! If only on her shoulders and cheeks.
Growing up alone, self sufficient- She probably had to grow a bit fast (even if she indulges in childish things with Bonbon). She quickly started repressing all fears, all questions of her decision to run away. I imagine she's actually insecure in her abilities, how Bon deserves more capable people in their life, how she doesn't really know anything and how she literally got frozen and Bonnie had to fend for themselves- After Bon comes back, she's so filled with admiration and adoration for her little sibling. They really went to the ends of the earth and saved the world. What a brave little sibling she has.
The new family kind of... Feels like a threat to her title as sister at the start. All 5 of them saved a country. The people Bonnie met are strong, knowledgeable, been all over the world- She's glad they protect Bonnie. She just wishes she had something to offer. It takes her a little while to realize they are also there for her too.
I was ranting to a friend, and I am pretty sure we know Nil would like to travel after everything. Being able to explore her more child like fantasies, with the safety blanket that is the family- It means a lot to her. She gets to truly indulge in living and letting loose and depending on people for the first time in her life.
Afterwards tho... I like to imagine she would settle down. It takes a while, but she likes having a place to call her own. And so we talked about how she would probably have a ranch of some sort. I like to imagine she'd love having horses. A way for her to remain free spirited, while taking care of creatures and having the security of a place to rest at the end of the day. And if she chooses, she can go wherever she wants with those bad boys!
My friend mentioned they might have goats or sheep or chicken, and I'm all aboard for that too. I'm not settled on the idea of a farm life for her, but I like it.
Also if I dare pull a Dreaming One for a second- Bonnie and Sif are like little siblings to her, Mira is like a twin (or relatively same aged), Isa is like an older brother, and Odile the everlasting grandma.
ALRIGHT THAT TOOK A WHILE-
Sorry, I started drawing her for fun and just started BRAINROTTING about her out of nowhere.
I still have little doodle ideas but this was already getting so lengthy so I am going to leave it here, and maybe return another day.
I just deeply wanted to establish Nil as her own character who can fit within the group's dynamic and belong in the family. While she very much IS Bonnie's sister and that's such a big part of her, I wanted to expand her a little further.
If you took the time to read, THANK YOU. I HOPE YOU LIKE HER, AND THAT YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL REST OF YOUR DAY
P.S. IF YOU DRAW OR WRITE WITH HER I BEG YOU TO TAG ME

I feel like that (Frin wishing the King to explode) would have to be triggered in a pre-game conversation. Like, before arriving in Dormont, there would be long stretches between cities and each one would have at least one camp stop for the night, and Maribelle/player has a chance to start a random topic. One of those could be about Mirabelle's roommate and have her air out grievances about Claude. It would have to be very specific relationship in group, maybe post Bonnie joining and post Siffrin losing their eye, also have to have Isabeau with a maxed comfortability or teamwork stat with everyone (he is more comfortable sharing his nerdy side). Mirabelle starts to get on a roll with ranting about Claude (Odile and Bonnie cheering her on) until she starts to trail off and get sad. Isabeau could try and distract her by asking specific questions about the chemicals Claude had laying around, and he guesses Claude was trying to make a bomb. The whole group starts talking about the idea of a bomb, how funny it would be for the King to blow up and the problems to be done with, etc etc. Eventually forgotten about with sleep for everyone besides Siffrin, whom eventually wishes the King blew up at the Tree.
I love this so much Anon.
Add a sweet layer of "is what Claude would have wanted" to the wish.

You thought you were great at thinking things through. Before Changing into Isabeau, you were great at overthinking them, even! But once Siffrin shows up at the Clocktower, everything seems to happen too quickly for your brain to catch up.
One moment, Odile is suggesting you all go to the house without Sif, and you get why she's thinking about it, but you can't. But you look at Mira and realize how badly Sif hurt her this afternoon, and. If half the team can't trust Siffrin. Odile's right, isn't she? It's not going to work. Unless you figure out what's wrong with Siffrin and help them fix it so they can apologize--
(Maybe you should still be mad at Siffrin too. They didn't say anything that wasn't true, though, and in a weird way it was …kind of flattering how well Sif had you pegged? Like, Siffrin obviously paid you a lot of attention. Maybe, if they weren't having the wildest post-nap crabs ever, there would have been some nice things said too.)
Then Siffrin shows up, and he's still acting weird, with that miserable fake smile. Then he's mad because he overheard you all talking about leaving him behind, saying you're all going to get yourselves killed. Then he starts talking about time loops, and your brain catches on the realization that oh, no wonder he could nap even the day before you're going to fight the King, he's sick. He's got to be. It's the worst possible timing and they should have told someone before it got this bad, but it's not like they could help the timing and, well, for as easygoing as Siffrin is (most of the time), they have the most stubborn independent streak of anyone you've seen, self-reliant to the occasional fault. You think it's usually a positive. He bounced back from losing an eye better than anyone else expected. But he's hidden being sick once before, because he was the last to get it and Mira was anxious to resume traveling when everyone else had gotten better, of course he'd hide it when tomorrow is the big day. Oh Change if it's contagious, because this time he seems to be the first one sick. You're all fighting the King tomorrow and one of your group is ranting about time loops. Also that you all hate him, which, no??? Where did he get that?
But then you try to catch Odile's eye and pause. You expected pure exasperation, and it's definitely scrawled across her face, but she's also peering at Siffrin in consideration, and you remember what she said about a book Siffrin shouldn't have known about.
And then Siffrin slips off the counter and you stand because the way you see it there are two options: either they're extremely ill, or time loops are actually a thing and that's kind of something everyone needs to know about. Either way, they shouldn't just be running out on you!
"Sif. You need to sit down, and explain EVERYTHING about what you just said." You have to be firm so Sif understands how serious this is. Whatever's going on, he needs to explain so everyone else can help.
But maybe you should have thought more about using that tone, because Sif's breath hitches and his face, already so pale with that dark bag under his eye, seems to lose shade entirely. Then there's barely-chewed samosa on both your shoes, which convinces you. He's sick. Change, if it's contagious, please let everyone get sick the day after tomorrow. You can be as miserable as you want then. Tomorrow, you need everyone.
"Okay, okay, uh," you blurt. Your brain is still trying to figure out what to actually say. It's also fighting both your hands and the urge to check how high a fever Sif's running right now, because you've just realized they're shaking. "Sif, can you just--sit down, I'll clean this, you need to rest--SIF--"
He dodges to your left, ducking around you. You whirl around and grab him, vainly reach for an arm and grasping only cloak fabric, because he needs to stop and calm down--
Normally, you know better than to grab anyone. Especially Sif.
They whirl on their feet with their face twisted in a snarl, one gloved hand reaching up to shove you away with a flat palm--
The scent of stationery reaches your nose, and Paper Craft pushes you off-balance, stumbling back until you hit the counter even as Siffrin snatches his hand back, his good eye wide with horror. You can hear chairs sliding back as both Mirabelle and Odile recognize the Craft sign as well, though Bonnie only sounds confused. Of course they're confused. Siffrin didn't even touch you, and he doesn't know Paper Craft.
Even if they did, they wouldn't use it on you. It didn't hit hard, you think, but maybe you're just too shocked to feel it yet. You stand there, dazed and dumb, until you feel healing Craft being used on you.
It's not Mirabelle healing you.
It's Siffrin, his head lowered but his voice just loud enough for you to make out the words before he sits down, right there in the middle of the kitchen floor. Not moving. Breathing too loud, but so are you.
Since when do they know healing Craft, either?
"Isabeau," Odile says, her voice tightly controlled. "Take Boniface and get the cleaning supplies from the closet, please."
Right. Right, smart, something is very wrong and you need to keep Bonbon safe until you've got a handle on this, so you gesture for Bonnie to come with you and tell them not now when they protest because they're just as confused as you feel, ushering them out of the makeshift kitchen area, and it's not until you're at the supply closet and Bonnie asks if you're okay that you realize Odile wasn't sending only Bonnie out of the room.
Deep breaths, Isabeau. Like Siffrin does!
Change, what is even going on?
"...Did Frin hurt you?" Bonnie asks, looking uneasy. "Nille would have totally flipped you if you grabbed her like that. But they used Craft, didn't they?"
"…They got me, a little, but not too bad," you say slowly, trying to think it through without keeping Bonnie waiting too long. "And obviously they didn't mean to, since they healed me right away!"
And you realize, as you say it, that you really do believe that. The smell of Paper Craft was too strong compared to what actually hit you. You saw Siffrin pull his hand back right before the hit instead of doing a proper follow-through. You tried to grab him without thinking. He reacted without thinking and tried to stop as soon as his brain caught up.
And that's terrifying, because that means they used Craft that's not even their natural type on reflex, because their hand was already moving into a close enough shape. You've known for a while they hate being touched. It wasn't anywhere near that bad before.
What
in the world
is happening?

hello. part two of me ranting about the fear of memory loss in isat. is it that obvious i have autism?
part one was about the kings fear of forgetting. Go read. *clicks my fingers like a cat* go.
disclaimer not a psychiatrist blahh blahhhh u get the idea :p king rant was long, this will be longer. maybe one singular person is as normal as i am about this game and will enjoy. otherwise at least its out of my system and into words
So yeah, the king is afraid of forgetting. Siffrin, however, is afraid of being forgotten.
Siffrin, is late 20s, and just like the king lost the majority of their memories to the island. The people they loved, all that jazz i don't need to write the cinematics again. They too end up in an unfamiliar place, however they end up a rouge. They travel from city to city, never staying anywhere solid, never making any real connections for years (at least as far as we know.) To him, he is just a guy* who lost everything that they knew, and that's that. No point if it'll just happen again. In fact im not even sure if they're aware they're from that island, since I'm pretty sure he learns it ingame. He just exists. Thats it. Their life doesn't matter, doesn't impact anyone. He is forgettable
But then, they meet Mira, Odile, and Isa. Then Bonnie, and when things couldn't get more confusing, he loses an eye for them. The party loves Siffrin, even if they never say it pregame. They appreciate him. And even if Frin doesn't think it directly, they definitely subconsciously believe it pregame. Otherwise, it wouldn't be such a shock when odile says they're colleagues at best. So how can Siffrin go back to his old life? A life on the go, with no connections, nothing but the millisecond bumps into strangers and polite conversations with the clerk at the hotel desk. Nobody to come home to, no one to ask how their day was.
Its like trying chocolate after eating coco beans all your life. Maybe you can tolerate going back to coco beans for a bit, but you'll never forget the chocolate. It'll be something you think about all the time, your thought before sleep takes you, as tiktok would say your 'roman empire'.
So Siffrin cannot let them go back home. He wishes to stay with them. and thus, the loops happen. But after a bit he, quote, 'understands the king more than he'd like to'
He refuses to be forgotten, to have to go back to that life. They've lived the span of their memories being so blindingly forgettable, now someone, some people see them and its so close in his grasp. Isabeau is so close to confessing to him. Mirabelle is so close to her full potential as a housemaiden. Odile is accepting she's more than her roots. And Bonnie, the kid he lost an eye for, disabling him permentantly, HUGGED them. a massive deal for a fella whos been living off small talk and avoiding eye contact for the last 10 years. Just one more loop, if they do it all right then just maybe..
Not here to talk abt the loops. moving on.
After all these people who love him, they don't wanna be forgotten. Trauma isn't just a factor in disorders. Trauma can, and often does create its own reactions. For a real world example, Children who grow up with absent parents often react with avoiding and distancing tendencies, where as children with emotionally unstable parents tend to grow to be anxiously attached to those they love. These aren't disorders, but they are a reaction to the trauma faced and ingraned. Frin's fear of being forgotten is just as much a trauma response as it is a result of the way he lives. Who knows how many people Siffrin forgot in the island. What's stopping him from being like them? What's stopping him from being so forgettable.
Side note, act 5 is next to the Sunny vs Basil fight as my favorite two scenes in games, especially when it comes to imagining/reading about them in other characters povs other than the mains. And bigfrin is my absolute joy in the world. not sorry.
But after loops n loops of trying to prevent it, hearing off handed comments about how bonnie hates them, and how isa will say i love you to anyone except him, Sif's self worth is at an all-time low. They just don't have it in them anymore. They cant do it. we're looking at months of living the same two days over and over. Same lines. Same people. Same events. Years, if you're an insane person who does like 500+ loops. I think most people did like 70-150 though. Siffrin has been reliving this for so long he's begun to find comfort in it. It feels safe. Its boring, its insufferable, yes, but its SAFE. After suffering all those months, they're leaving anyway. They are going home. They will go home and forget Sif and it will all be for nothing. When Odile stops them from looping back, they strike. Either at themselves, or those they love. They would literally rather attack those they've gone through months of suffering just to spend more time with, or attack themselves time after time till it kills them. They'd rather it than risk them all leaving and forgetting him. I don't really have much more to say i guess i just ugh
i love act 5 i love bigfrin and if theres any writers reading this write some act 5 from other party members pov and you will get the juciest kiss.
if you read all this way, congrats!! i diagnose you with autism 💜
*guy is used as a unisex. i know the correct term for siffrin is fella. i went to gender school.

Played start again x3 and holy fucking shit it murdered me and my friend who was watching me play
(SPOILERS FOR SASASA: P)
Ok ok I’m not really here to talk about the other endings but I’m here to talk about the fucking perfect route
Holy shit. My fucking horror when the king just one shotted us instantly and started hold on lemme quote my friend:
“Imagine being frozen and forced to see your friend getting smacked into the ground like a club. Could not have been Siffrin and the gang”
And also
We were both sitting there, jaws dropped, as we read that fucking dialogue of Mirabelle getting repeatedly thrown into the ground.
Like
What. The fuck?? I was not expecting to get one shotted, I thought maybe ‘oh!! Yay I get to win!!’ And then it’s just like ‘nope!! Watch this ;) ‘ and then immediately you get frozen and you can imagine the group watching Mirabelle get chucked around like she’s just a toy.
Ok rant over, have some things i thought was funny:
"Siffrin, I have now stolen your English and your words. You may never speak again." - me saying this as Odile because whenever I tried to voice her my words would die
"As always, you don't get a chance to catch your bry- blegh." "We've been climbling up the clastl- THE CAST- THE- THE- THE BLUH, THE....the castle! It's a castle!" Again, me struggling to form words
"Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior Siffrin Christ?" - The tears probably (I kept on running into tears and we had a running joke about the wine and Siffrin)
"I feel bonita" - Siffrin wearing a cheap ass Barbie dress (we looked at the dresses in Miras room)
"Y'all love it when heroes get to turn their lives around, but you're not a hero, Siffrin, you're just you YOU LITTLE BI-" I don’t actually remember this but I found it funny when I was looking through the chat so hehe
"We've all died like 2000000 times already, I wonder how we'll die this time. Maybe we'll get grated like cheese?" Tears and time and Blood and stars ending joke hehe
“SIFFRIN CHRIST LES GOOO” the wine joke, we immediately thought of Jesus because of an inside joke
“Bro doesn't have natural white hair the creator is lying that mf's a blonde in disguise” we kept on calling Frin dumb for some reason I can’t remember
“Thou heart was ripped in twain, never to be mended again ✨” when Siffrin was getting comforted by everyone in the true ending :> (The Mirabelle one im pretty sure, wow there’s a lot of Mira in this post)
“THEY CAN SET MY CARPETS ON FIRE IDC THEY'RE SO SWEET” my friend wanted to adopt Bonnie so badly lmao
Adding onto the original post lmao
"There, go drink a beer, have a headpat, now get tf out I'm watching my telenovelas" - Odile (When Odile was comforting Siffrin and shooed him away after a bit, we joked about how she was your typical wine mom)
The Isabeau and Siffrin holding hands thing melted our fucking hearts lmao 😭
THEY ARENT WRONG.
There’s all I have for now, but expect another one SUPER soon because I was actually dying because of this one joke/quote
#kit is not dead#in stars and time#isat#hyperfixation time hehe#start again start again start again#start again: a prologue#start again spoilers#sasasap#sasasaap spoilers#sasasaap siffrin#sasasaap mirabelle#sasasaap odile#sasasaap bonnie#sasasaap isabeau#isat mirabelle#isat bonnie#isat siffrin#isat isabeau#isat odile#idk#funny shit#also wtf#isat king#sasasaap king#what did mira do to you bro#why#😭😭

Alright rant time
So I just got into In Stars and Time thanks to @pillowspace putting it everywhere on my dash. I just got tired of just hearing about it so I checked it out and while I agree this is a great game and I'm pretty much just scratching the surface, I had a talk with Mirabelle today...
[Anyone who doesn't want to hear about this or doesn't want spoiled for this conversation leave now]
Her talking to me about being pressured into dating for her faith honestly took me off guard. I was not expecting to get an aromantic chosen one. I was so filled with joy to hear her express her feelings about not being interested in dating in the slightest.
I genuinely didn't think about how having this representation in a game about escaping a time loop would actually make me so much happier and while I already loved the game, I just love it so much more for that. It did not need to touch on these kinds of issues, it already has a lot going on and then Mirabelle!!!
I'll admit, I've only managed to talk to Odile and Mirabelle right now, I have no idea what Bonnie and Isabeau are gonna talk to me about (unless Isabeau is gonna finally tell me what he's been meaning to say) but just those talks are brilliant.
I really feel for Mirabelle with how she's so pressured into changing, assuming 'changing for the better' means having to go through bonding and having to forge connections she knows she won't genuinely form. It's amatonormativity explained in the context of this universe and religion.
I also really like how throughout the story, she's still been really into romance, just not when it pertains to herself. It's funny how casual her aromanticism was treated in writing her. It doesn't seem to come up at all until it actual involves her. Like how she reacted to people being conditioned from a young age to accept wearing earrings for bonding over the mission to help the frozen lover to give their earring to their partner.
This rant is getting longer than I thought it would so I'd just like to wrap it up by saying I'm so happy to hear my kind of issues coming from a game I just happened to hear about and started playing.

Les Misérables 1.2.6 - Jean Valjean
A few things stood out to me that I hadn’t noticed on previous reads.
Firstly, the way the narration shifts when it describes the theft of the bread. Before and after that, the perspective is focused on Valjean. For that moment, though, it switches to:
One Sunday night, Maubert Isabeau, the baker on Place de l’Eglise, in Faverolles, was just going to bed when he heard a violent blow against the barred window of his shop. He got down in time to see an arm thrust through the aperture made by the blow of a fist on the glass. The arm seized a loaf of bread and took it out. Isabeau rushed out; the thief used his legs valiantly; Isabeau pursued him and caught him. The thief had thrown away the bread, but his arm was still bleeding. It was Jean Valjean.
There’s an unusual level of detail - not that detail is unusual for Hugo, but we get the full name and address of the baker, which we don’t get for any of Valjean’s nieces or nephews. There’s also a kind of depersonalization of Valjean: first with the description as a disembodied body part, “the arm”, then as “the thief”. Only after that identity is established is his name given. It feels, in the detailed narration of events from the baker’s perspective, like the testimony given at a trial - the gist of the testimony, perhaps, that Isabeau did give to the tribunal. It conveys how everything about Valjean as a person, and his reasons, and his family, is dismissed, with these isolated facts being what the trial considers relevant and important.
Secondly, Napoleon come up again.
On the 22nd of April, 1796, there was announced in Paris the victory of Montenotte, achieved by the commanding-general of the army of Italy, whom the message of the Directory, to the Five Hundred, of the 2nd Floréal, year IV, called Buonaparte; that same day a great chain was riveted at the Bicêtre. Jean Valjean was part of this chain.
The combination of this with the mentions in the first section of this chapter makes me more convinced that Hugo’s focus is a contrast in what society values (as with the ‘good man’ and the ‘great man’ in Myriel’s comment). The question Hugo is evoking is: what makes a nation great? What speaks to its identity? What should it take pride in? What should it aspire to? The achievements of a ‘great man’ like Napoleon, or the way it treats the least and lowest in its society? Combeferre responding to Marius’ Bonapartist rant - What could be greater than this? - with “To be free” is the answer to this central thematic question.
Thirdly, Valjean only hears of his sister’s family once, when he learns that she is in Paris, in severe poverty, with only one child, the youngest, a boy of six who is left outside in the cold on winter mornings before his school opens. He learns this, the narrator says, “I think, at the end of his fourth year of confinement” (purposefully vague, since the author/narrator could know whatever precision he chose to). Right after this, we move to Valjean’s first escape attempt, “near the end of this fourth year”. This suggests strongly to me that Valjean’s first attempt to escape was due to this news, out of a desire to go to his sister and help her, which makes everything even more tragic.

if twist isabeau was asked to give a 15 minute presentation on the spot, what would the topic be?
Gonna assume you mean A Twist of Fate Isabeau and not what my gut reaction was, which is A Twist of Fate Not!Isabeau.
And in that case, either fashion or birds! He's a big fan of fashion in canon and I think he could use that to just ramble about backstitching and hemming techniques for days. And birds, we've established that's his favorite animal! He's got an obsession with them. I think last time I established his favorite bird exactly was a bank sparrow and uh. That's being retconned because I discovered wallcreepers and they're much cooler. Also they look like monarch butterflies and something in me said "Monarch butterfly wings? Monarch? Isabeau being inexorably tied to the Monarch of our AU, Odile????? That's some good symbolism" and so they're his new favorites and he could rant for hours about birds. And fashion. And bird-inspired fashion.
